In world history we are finishing the history of the Islamic Empire. This book represents our learning because it indicates the daily lives of Arabs. We discovered that women had no rights over men ;women would be punished if they deceived men. We use collaborize classrooms to communicate(or share) our thoughts . Google Documents is also a tool that we have been recently using. It is a helpful resource for supporting the position (opinion) that we represent in Shabanu. Our class also discussed cultural diffusion and how Islam started. A cool fact is, Islam started in a cave!
For second quarter, we learned about Asian Civilizations ( China in particular). Our class learned about Chinese achievements . We tried writing a few Chinese characters too . In class, we learned of the different dynasties in China as well as the leaders. While we were getting information of the Chinese culture; including learning about different religions of China. The three new religions wen learnt were Confucianism, Buddhism, and Daoism. We also learned how the Mongols first came to China.
For third quarter, our class focused on the civilization of Japan. During history, we explored the art of The Living Treasures of Japan .We learnt about the isolation of Japan, Japanese-Americans , the emperors, and shoguns of Japan. Our class learnt about the geography of Japan and how it effected Japan. We also compared the living habits of Japan ,compared to the way we Americans live. Turns out that the Japan is one of the most technological , proud , honorable people in the world. Plus, they still focus on their cultural traditions for generation after generations to come by.
In fourth quarter history class, we learned about the ancient civilization of the Americas. This included the Mayas, the Aztecs and the Incas who were empires of ancient civilizations. Since Mexicans were descendants of the great civilizations, we included the history of the traitor/survivor Malinche who gave off information to a Spanish man named Cortes's. We also learned about the similarities and differences of the civilization. For example, some of the similarities that they shared were: trading, huge buildings, irrigation water system/aqueducts, agriculture (especially maize) and the polytheism with human sacrifice. The differences were that the empires fell at different times for different reasons.
