Drama class is a class designed for the performing arts. Ms. Baird, is the only teacher that teaches acting. The area for drama class is located in Edison High School.
In drama class ,we learnt the seven basic theater moves. With that ,we are currently making silent films. Doing this helps our class accelerate on improvising (or improv) .The due date for our silent films is Oct. 22 ;some of the students are working really hard to edit their video. The video must be black and white with background music to describe the scene or part of the film. There are certain procedures we drama students have to follow in order to receive a decent grade, but it will be worth it in the end!
This is the play drama class is currently working on. We are practicing scripts and acting skills for this upcoming play. There are many parts of the play in which we have to focus on saying lines at the same time. Our teacher assigned teams for the play as well. There is a set team, make-up team , publicity team, props team, and sound and special effects team. Drama class has been working on the play since half of first quarter and second quarter to prepare for the show.Everyone has been working hard for this play, and hopefully it is a success.
Since there are four parts of the play we mostly practiced half of the play. During second quarter, we reviewed the first part , but now we are reviewing the second part. The teams are getting great ideas for the parody of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare. Although we are still in progress of buying the materials needed . There is a budget on how much our class can spend ,so we are still deciding on the most suited props we need to save money.
Drama class has finally finished The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged play on March 28. It was an extremely fun experience to be in an important part of the play. Although , the stage lights were very hot, our class managed to pull it through. Ms.Baird was very proud of our success and claimed that we were "professional amateurs." In fact, we had to do professional-like work on set to. Some of us stayed after school to work on the sets and props, and some stayed to help with the costumes. When the play started, everyone had to wear makeup(including the boys) . Also, there was a drummer in the back playing live music for the Othello rappers. In the end, our drama class show was hilarious to the people there, and later we had a big karaoke party with bacon and potatoes. Now our class basically works on improv.
